Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said the departure of pilgrims from West Java is possible to depart from Kertajati Airport in Majalengka Regency if the infrastructure facilities are ready.
“Of course we will see the development, when to start operation, its capability and everything related to the minimum standard of determination of an airport,” Lukman said in Jakarta on Saturday.
He said the departure of Jabar pilgrims from Kertajati for 2018 should be consulted with the Ministry of Transportation, a number of airlines and other related parties.
Lukman said the Ministry of Religious Affairs continues to monitor and review the progress of the airport readiness scheduled to begin operation in June 2018, especially regarding the readiness of facilities and infrastructure for hajj departure.
According to him, with the operation of Kertajati Airport can facilitate the pilgrims from West Java to leave for the Holy Land.
“The principle is that if we are in Kemenag, the more embarkation, the better it will be because it makes it easier, the closer the services of the pilgrims to the form of the service facility itself, the more we will be happy,” he said.
Previously, President Joko Widodo requested that Kertajati Airport in Majalengka will operate in June 2018. The international airport has been completed 85 percent from the side of the development side.
PT West Java International Airport (BIJB) as the executor of airport development and operation said they are ready to serve the pilgrims departure from West Java in 2018.
Director of PT BIJB Virda Dimas Ekaputra said it has prepared the Hajj and Umrah lounge facility of 1,300 square meters. The facility is located on the third floor of the airport terminal area.
On other preparedness issues, he said he has worked with various parties such as Majalengka Government to create non-toll road access and other physical works.
