JAKARTA, (REPUBLIKA.CO.ID), – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) revealed the construction of the air side of Kertajati Airport, West Java has been completed. Director General of Air Transportation of Kemenhub Agus Santoso said the construction of runway, taxiway, appron, tower and even navigation operation steps have been prepared.
After all these things are ready, Agus affirmed the opening and operation of Kertajati Airport for haj embarkation in July 2018 needs to be taken seriously. “Considering the time is getting closer, it is related to the readiness of the airport operational plan which is currently being accelerated by the construction settlement,” said Agus, Wednesday (17/1).
For that, Agus assessed the need for more intensive coordination between the Directorate General of Air Transport Kemenhub as a national aviation regulator with PT West Java International Airport (BIJB). So also with PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II as a candidate for managing the airport and local government.
Meanwhile, Agus explained there are several issues that need to be discussed further related to the development of the airport. “Such as the technical extension of the runway, flight operational plan related to aviation safety, and airport security and access road from and to the airport,” said Agus.
Agus requested that the readiness of the airport’s operational readiness should be as well prepared as possible regarding safety, security and services to airport users. Agus asked BIJB, AP II, and local government to coordinate more intensively so that airport operations run smoothly.
Previously, President Joko Widodo expects Kertajati Airport to operate in 2018 in order to become a pilgrim embarkation. If this is achieved in July 2018, then Kertajati Airport will become the third haj embrada owned by Indonesia.
