Topping Off, MoT Wishes Kertajati Airport Become Icon of West Java

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi wants various stakeholders to be able to ensure the security aspects of West Java International Airport (BIJB) development in Kertajati, Majalengka, West Java.

“The world of aviation is a high profile issue so the safety aspect should be taken seriously,” said Minister of Transportation in the topping off event of BIJB in Kertajati, Majalengka, Sunday (21/5).

For that, said Budi Karya, BIJB development should also be done carefully and there is no gap in the least because a little problem in the world of aviation can be a big news in the media.

According to Budi, BIJB in Kertajati will become one of the icons in West Java in the future, and expected all passengers from West Java and even East Central Java can also use the international airport.

BIJB, according to him, will also become an international logistics connectivity in West Java which is one of the logistics centers in Indonesia.

“For electronic goods production, exports can be done through the airport in Kertajati,” said Minister of Transportation.

Therefore, the Minister of Transportation also expressed the hope that the airport can also bring increased levels of prosperity for West Java residents in particular.

The MoC also stated that the BIJB is the only airport for cooperation between the central government and local governments, so that the project should also be done carefully, timely, and with precision work.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan also hopes the airport project can run according to plan so that by the end of 2018 can operate perfectly.

“Hopefully the completion of the airport is on time,” said the Governor of West Java, adding that the construction of the airport in Kertajati has been through a long winding road.

Aher said, Jabar is very much in need of a big airport. In the initial stage, BIJB plans to build 1 runway, but in the next 10 years is expected to grow to as many as 2 to 3 runways. (OL-2)
