BANDUNG (DETIK.COM), – The government promised to provide incentives for airlines that open international flight routes to West Java International Airport (BIJB), Kertajati, Majalengka Regency. The move was an effort to push forward the progress of the airport.
“If there are new flights from abroad to West Java in this case, Kertajati will be given incentives,” said Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, at Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung, Tuesday (11/13/2018).
According to Arief, the incentives offered to airlines are in the form of assistance in the promotion of flight destinations to be served. That way, the airline does not need to spend funds for the promotion costs.
“So the unit costs will be relatively cheap,” he said.
According to Arief, many flight routes can be served by airlines at Kertajati Airport. Examples of routes from and to Kertajati-Singapore and Kertajati-Malaysia.
The two routes are quite promising considering that there are quite a lot of tourist visits from Singapore and Malaysia to West Java. “From East Asia, you can go directly to Kertajati,” he said.
This incentive, he continued, has been implemented at Silangit Airport on Lake Toba and Tanjung Kelayang, Belitung. Because both airports are new and have been designated as international airports.
“These two airports are similar to Kertajati,” he said.
Arief hopes that this offer of incentives can significantly boost tourist visits and the number of passengers at Kertajati Airport. He is optimistic that if direct flights from Singapore and Malaysia are opened there, the airport can contribute to foreign tourists quite high.
“This can go through one million,” he said.
Meanwhile West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil argued that Kertajati Airport was ready to serve local and international flights. But at present the existence of the airport is still inferior to other airports.
“It is already ready but not well-known. Lack of marketing, if the term is Minister, the product is good, the price is good, the promotion is not a business,” he said.
He said he would start looking for ways to develop Kertajati Airport in the future. One of them is dividing the flight route at Husein Sastranegara Airport with Kertajati Airport.
“So our task is to search including sorting with Husein Airport. Husein Airport also cannot be 100 percent zero. God willing, my commitment is 2019 to be visible (progress),” he said.
