(KOMPAS.com), DENPASAR- Citilink Airlines will soon open a new route from Kertajati International Airport, West Java. Vice President Marketing of PT Citilink Indonesia Harismawan Wahyu said a number of potential routes will be opened soon. “The biggest destination is to Medan,” said Harismawan met in Denpasar, Bali, Thursday (08/30/2018).
According to Harismawan, Kertajati which is surrounded by eight major cities in West Java and Central Java has enormous potential with a total of 17 million people. Many workers in West and Central Java work in North Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. In addition to Kualanamu, many people go to Silangit to return to their hometowns around Lake Toba. Moreover, in Jakarta, the airline to Silangit Airport is always full. “There is Prapat, Sibolga, it all goes from Silangit to two hours. And people like to ride a big plane. So when we open it with airbus, it can be crowded,” Harismawan said.
Besides Medan, flights to Denpasar, Balikpapan, Batam and Manado are also believed to be crowded. As for international flights, Harismawan said that Kertajati Airport would serve Umrah and Hajj pilgrims. “Most travel agents bring it to Jakarta. Even though it’s huge and it’s an international airport,” he said.
Maskpai Citilink itself made the inaugural flight of the Surabaya-West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati route in Majalengka on June 8, 2018 or coinciding with the Eid holiday. Until now, Citilink is still the only airline operating in Kertajati. At that time the transportation reached 100 percent. Although currently down to 60 percent, Harismawan believes new routes and toll access will boost the number of passengers to and from Kertajati.
“There are no poor areas in the area. Why? First, there are a lot of commodities. Want batik, want to craft, want culinary, salted eggs, that’s the place of industry. Secondly the agricultural industry, thirdly he is now the region with the largest labor in Indonesia,” said Harismawan.
