BANDUNG, – The new route will add flights from and to the West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, Majalengka Regency. Routes served by Transnusa domestic airlines will begin in early November 2018 with routes to Semarang and Bandar Lampung and vice versa.
President Director of PT BIJB Virda Dimas Ekaputra said, the addition of the route to the two destination areas was carried out because the demand and market potential towards the central and western regions of Indonesia was quite large. Semarang will meanwhile be represented by the Transnusa airline after Yogyakarta which is the next shooting route to be served from Kertajati Airport.
As for Bandar Lampung, which is located in the western part, it is expected to be a pioneer of other flights to the island of Sumatra, such as Medan, Palembang, Jambi, Riau, Aceh or even Batam, which are quite awaited by West Java residents. Just to note, Transnusa has since received commercial flight permits in 2011 and has been serving more flights in eastern Indonesia. Now the service extends to the middle and west.
“Hopefully this can be a starting point for good flights going forward both for BIJB and Transnusa. Previously, the service to Surabaya has opened Citilink which now operates every day from Kertajati,” said Virda in Bandung, Friday, October 19, 2018.
TransNusa with ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, at the beginning of the flight from Kertajati Airport will begin to fill the slot on Sunday 4 November 2018. This domestic flight service will be opened twice a week, ie Sunday and Monday round trip.
Flight from KJT (Kertajati) to TKG (Bandar Lampung) is at 6.30 WIB with an hour’s distance. Conversely, TKG – KJT aircraft will take off at 7.50 WIB and arrive at the destination at 8.50 WIB.
As for services to Semarang, flights are opened at 9.10 WIB and will arrive at the destination airport at 09.55 WIB. For the next flight Semarang to Kertajati aircraft will take off at 17.25 and arrive at 18:10 WIB. “This flight time has been adjusted based on the needs of the community,” said Virda.
Before the flight Semarang and Bandar Lampung, Kertajati Airport itself had served domestic flights every day with Surabaya destinations and vice versa since June 2018. The latest is international flight services marked by direct flight Kertajati – Madinah by Lion Air Airlines on October 13. Flights to transport Umrah pilgrims with Boeing 737 max 8 aircraft are conducted once a week.
Virda added, the submission of slots from a number of airlines had already entered his side. The entire flight slot submission continues in the evaluation because it also relates to the destination airport. According to him the route that is now being targeted is the destinations of Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Medan and Ujungpandang. While international destinations are Singapore, Malaysia, China and Japan.
“Because we are targeting at the beginning of this operation there are 14 flights served from Kertajati Airport,” said Virda./HUMAS BIJB
