Extension of Kertajati Airport Runway Completed End of This Year

PT West Java International Airport (BIJB) targets the construction of an extension of 500 meters of the Kertajati International Airport runway or runway in Majalengka, West Java along the 500 meters to be completed by the end of this year.

At present, the runway of Kertajati Airport which was inaugurated in May 2018 is only 2,500 meters long. When the extension work is completed, Kertajati Airport will have a runway of 3,000 meters.
“The extension of the runway to 3,000 meters is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018,” BIJB Corporate Secretary, Arif Budiman, told the coil on Saturday (8/9).

He also revealed, currently the progress of the extension of the 500-meter runway is still in the process of handover of land from the Provincial Government (Provincial Government) of West Java to Angkasa Pura II as the airport manager.
“But now Angkasa Pura II is working on coating or overlaying parallel taxi way and perfecting the apron in the remote area,” he said.

As for the runway at Kertajati Airport, it has reached 3,000 meters, Boeing 777 aircraft for Hajj transportation can land. At present, only Airbus A330 aircraft can land so they cannot serve Hajj transportation.

“Hopefully next year it can be done (for hajj transportation). “Umrah will begin opening October 13 2018 by Lion Air,” Arif explained.
