BIJB Runway Extension, West Java Provincial Government Adds Capital and Assets up to Rp 1.5 Trillion

BANDUNG, (PR) .- Runway length owned by West Java International Airport in Kertajati Subdistrict, Majalengka District will be extended to 3,500 meters. Currently BIJB, which was inaugurated in May 2018, has a runway of 2,500 meters.

This was stated by the Regional Secretary of West Java Province Iwa Karniwa in the transfer of capital in the form of an area of 2,948,294 square meters. Precisely in Kertajati Village, Bantarjati Village, Kertasari Village, Kertajati District at PT BIJB at Gedung Sate Jalan Diponegoro, Bandung City, Wednesday 8 August 2018.

The transfer of capital in the form of land was received by the Director of PT BIJB Virda Dimas Ekaputra. Witnessed by the West Java Provincial Economic and Development Assistant Eddy Nasution and Acting Head of the Bureau of Economic, Investment and BUMD Facilities Mohamad Arifin Soedjayana.

“Angkasa Pura II’s involvement in Kertajati Airport will extend the runway from 2,500 meters to 3,000 meters. Then we will gradually increase to 3,500 meters according to the airport master plan. So we hope 3,500 meters will be more effective and efficient,” Iwa said. . The extension of the runway to 3,000 meters will soon be carried out by AP II and will be completed by the end of 2018.

Iwa said, since the construction until the operations of West Java Provincial Government continue to support the operation of Kertajati Airport. Previously the West Java Provincial Government had provided a capital investment of Rp 796 billion to realize the presence of this airport. With the increase in land investment in the area of 294.8 hectares estimated at Rp 725 billion, this means that the West Java Provincial Government has surrendered total land assets of around Rp 1.5 trillion.

Before the approval of the share portion with PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II, according to Iwa, the position of the West Java Provincial Government is currently still the majority of shareholders with a portion of 98.45 percent of assets at Kertajati Airport. Currently he said, West Java Governor Mochamad Iriawan was coordinating with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan in relation to finalizing the capital investment agreement from AP II, which was 25 percent of the total assets of Kertajati Airport.

“Hopefully with AP II asking for 25 percent, administratively and physically (the runway) can immediately be completed,” he added.

Added capital

Iwa admitted, the West Java Provincial Government planned to increase capital to Rp. 5 trillion in PT BIJB so that airport operations could be maximized. With the status of an international airport, Kertajati Airport must be supported so that its presence can truly be felt by the community to serve flights. West Java Provincial Government will undergo a number of stages, including the making of regional regulations.

“We must arrange again to propose the existence of a Regional Regulation related to the addition of paid-in capital, to a minimum of Rp. 5 trillion. We have that stage first,” Iwa said.

Virda added that the capital participation in the form of land from the West Java Provincial Government was used for the construction of the airport’s land side. In the airport ecosystem, Virda stated that it was not merely discussing airport operations but there were also commercial areas that could be accessed by non-passengers.

“Alhamdulillah, BIJB has received capital from the West Java Provincial Government in the form of land for the land side, namely land that can be commercialized for commercial buildings, supporting buildings, for example for Pertamina, and others,” said Virda.

As for the planned extension of the runway to 3,500 meters, he continued, it was in accordance with the Kertajati Airport masterplan. With this infrastructure, Virda believes that the airport can more optimally serve flights because all types of aircraft can land at the airport.

“Since the beginning of the plan 3,000 meters, but if it is financially capable, why not just 3,500 meters. Because now the land acquisition has been settled, unlike last year,” he said. ***
