Bisnis.com, CIREBON - Logistical services at the West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati became an attraction along with the start of the crowded Soekarno Hatta Airport.

The role of anchor airlines is needed there so that the existence of BIJB Kertajati as an international logistics center is increasingly optimal.

Indonesian Supply Chain Senior Consultant Joni Gusmali said BIJB Kertajati has great potential to become an international logistics hub for airways.

Based on the information he has, some logistics players are willing to work on the cargo market between Java and Singapore and Batam through BIJB Kertajati. One reason is because Soekarno Hatta Airport is already quite crowded.

"The distribution of cargo through Kertajati Airport (KJT) can reduce the risk of delays in cargo shipments through Soekarno Hatta Airport (CGK) due to road congestion," Joni told Bisnis some time ago.

He added that cargo flights could support the growth of Kertajati Airport, as well as the economy of West Java.

Later, anchor airlines or airlines interested in making KJT a hub / homebase can support cargo flight operations. Anchor companies can also prepare market analyzes and operational aspects.

"The operation of the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan [Cisumdawu] toll road will later solve the problem of the lack of passengers and goods coming and departing from the Greater Bandung area," Joni said.

He estimated that during the pandemic, BIJB Kertajati would be more likely to be filled by people from the Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka and Kuningan regions.

However, when the Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road is operational, potential passenger planes from Bekasi, Cikarang, Karawang also have the potential to fly using the Kertajati BIJB.

Just for the record, during the period 22 June to 26 June, Bisnis Indonesia conducted a search in the Rebana Triangle area (Subang-Majalengka-Cirebon) to explore the potential in the region.

This program was implemented thanks to the support of many parties, a.l. West Java Provincial Government, Majalengka Regency Government, BJB Bank, PT Migas Hulu West Java (MUJ), West Java Industry and Trade Office, BIJB, West Java Disparbud, JNE, XL and Telkomsel.
