Bandung (ANTARA) - President Director of PT Bandarudara Internasional Jawa Barat (PT BIJB) Salahudin Rafi said the news stating that Kertajati Airport, in Majalengka Regency, West Java, was closed so that it did not operate was hoax.
"I am sure, Kertajati Airport will remain open and operate normally to serve passengers and airlines," Salahudin Rafi said in a press release received in Bandung on Wednesday.
Rafi emphasized that Kertajati Airport, in Majalengka Regency is certain to continue operating normally to serve flights even though Indonesia is facing a health emergency related to the corona pandemic or COVID-19.
He admitted that the aviation business is currently the most significant impact due to the spread of the corona virus and almost all airports in Indonesia and even the world has decreased the number of passengers and the closure of a number of flight routes.
"This situation is experienced by all airports, including Kertajati, but the decline does not mean closing down operations," he said.
According to him, in addition to still serving passengers to a number of routes, Kertajati Airport also still has to operate considering its status as an alternative airport and also a crossing of other flight routes.
"We are an alternative airport too, so it's impossible to stop operating. Services remain normal, "he said.
According to him, Kertajati Airport has carried out the stages of preventing the spread of the corona virus and routinely disinfects the airport from services to the waiting rooms and outlets.
"We want to ensure that the airport is clean and clear, safe from the corona virus, and safe for passengers who will fly from there," Rafi said.
This disinfectant process, according to him, is a form of PT BIJB's commitment to continue being able to provide services and comfort for prospective passengers. According to him all these stages follow the health standards set by the government.
"It is in accordance with government directives as well as Governor Ridwan Kamil's orders," he said.
PT BIJB will routinely conduct disinfectants twice a month and in the past week, twice this disinfectant has been carried out.
"We are collaborating with the Kertajati Port Health Office," he said.
