Bisnis.com, BANDUNG — The high cargo potential is considered to be able to revive Kertajati Airport, Majalengka and at the same time remove dependence from still not running commercial flights.

Head of the West Java Transportation Agency, Hery Antasari, said that his party has targeted this in 2021, especially for the air transportation sector, to revive the activities of Kertajati Airport with the cargo and Umrah business.

"It has become our quick wins, 2021 Kertajati is the center of logistics," he said in Bandung, Wednesday (5/1/2021).

According to him, this program is following up on West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil's order, who has declared Kertajati as the national logistics center in 2019. Due to the pandemic, Hery admits efforts to follow up on this plan have slowed a little.

"We will try to process it again. Last year we sent a letter to the Ministry of Transportation, but the pandemic is on hold, we will push it again," he said.

According to him, the Transportation Agency has held several meetings with the board of directors of PT Bandarudara Internasional West Java (BJIB) to discuss opportunities to boost cargo.

"In the regional economic recovery division it was discussed as well, incidentally there are stakeholders there," he said.

According to him, if there is no pandemic, Kertajati Airport will certainly survive both in terms of commercial and cargo flights. When conditions were still normal, the two services from Husein Sastranegara Airport even switched there.

"The direction is there. When the governor announced it to Kertajati, Husein's logistics automatically moved there, ”he said.
